I think its best its labeled Honda, but If the price was the same, I'd prefer the warranty and service of an Acura.

It just has to do with what segment Honda thinks it will sell in. The Acuras are aimed at the "richer" crowd, while the Hondas are aimed at the General Pop. Your average Joe can't afford an NSX, but your average Joe can probably afford an S2K.

IMHO, It has little to do with how much luxery is put into the car, but more to do with which segment of the pop you are targetting.

I have been looking at a second car lately. Close to the top of the list of candidates is an RSX Type S.

If that is the purchase, I will be strongly considering replacing the Acura badges with Honda.

Does that make me a fanatic? I have long felt that if I could ever afford an NSX...the Acura badges would be the first (and maybe the only) thing to change.

Thanks for the replies guys!!!

The reason I ask this is that when people ask what kind of car do you drive and I say --its a Honda...I get this weird look like thats a honda? Today I was driving down in the neighborhood and some guy flagged me down and started asking about my car. I love the s2k. I wished that Honda's service would be similar to that at Acura's. I guess I just got pampered.

HONDA 4 LIFE!!!!

A. A Honda dressed up with a few luxury items and a higher price tag.

BTW, only the US is gullible enough to fall for it. The rest of the world is happy with Hondas
Let me finish your sentence. ...AND a better warranty, better sales experience, and better service. I cannot speak for every Acura dealer, but I can speak for the ones in my area whom I have purchased from several times.

There is no "gullibility" in the US over Acura. It was Honda's decision to make an Acura line, not the consumer. I don't have a choice between buying an Acura MDX and a Honda MDX and choose to buy the Acura. I assume you pay the same (or more) for a Honda MDX as we an Acura MDX. I am not sure how your warranty works between Acura in the states and Honda elsewhere.

The Acura line was created by Honda. Personally I don't have a problem with it.

That said, no the S2000 should not have been an Acura. For the simple reason, and this has been discussed many times, that it is a celebration of Honda proper. However, I do wish they went with the Acura warranty....

You sure it wasn't created by AHM? Another distinction that many US citizens fail to comprehend.

Let's see. Who owns AHM? I give up.

What was the first distinction us silly naive US citizens don't comprehend?

This is nonsense. You blame the US for the Acura line as if there is something to be ashamed of about it. You think that people who have Acura don't know it is made by Honda? You think people who have Lexus don't know it is made by Toyota? I proudly own an Acura and a Honda auto. It's all branding. Given both the "Honda" and "Acura" line under Honda, and you'd have a mess of confusing autos (how many different cars can one brand produce?). In fact forget the US market. That would make it easy because you would not have many of these cars since there would not be enough people around to buy them in order to make it worth putting into production.

It is apparently more important to you that everything be branded a Honda than it is to Honda.
