Default Side sill?

Did anyone notice the paint on the bottom of the sidesill?
It looks as if they had some paper or some tape on it then removed it before the paint dried. I thought it was my car that was wrong but I went to the nearest Honda dealer (in WI, I got mine from CA) and realized that all the '04's they had had the same weird paintjob on the bottom of the sidesill as well. I have no clue about the older models, I dont remember seeing it on my previous car ('01) but then I am not positive that it was not like that either.

I wish they had rather put some metal or plastic trim on that area instead of having some crappy paint job if they thought that the area is going to be worn out fast. I don't even know if that is the reason. What do you guys think?

My '02 and my wife's '95 Miata have that orange-peel look paint job on the lower sills. i'm sure there's a pretty good reason for it, just not sure what it is...

I think they're all like that. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but I really can't notice it unless the car is on jackstands or a lift.

It is a coating that prevents rock chips un the underside of the painted car. most cars use this its just the way our cars are designed that makes it look kindof odd.
