Default Side Strake Replacement Options?

Well, back when the S2K was new in MY2000, one way that dealers improved their mark up was to force options on any available cars as they were pretty scarce.

Mine had the rear and front spoiler, and the dreaded side strakes.

My passenger side strake has come loose several times.

Thank god for the rear screws, the adhesive on the front strip and grommet has long since dissolved.

What I have been doing when this happens is epoxying the grommet in place and buying a new pin to firmly secure it. THis normally hold about six months, till the heat effects the epoxy and the grommet breaks free

These strakes are the only thing I hate about my S2K!

My last "fix" has been to add industrial strength velcro to the area where the rectangular tape used to be at the front of the strake. This seems to hold well enough, but obviously not as desirable as having the pin and grommet in place.

My question is, what aftermarket strakes are available, and most importantly do they cover the friggin holes that Honda maimed my car with?

Have any of you traded out the stock ones for aftermarket ones?

Any advice is appreciated,

Eddie

Since you got the front lip, wouldn't a nice set of side skirts kinda flow w/ the lip and also eliminate the ugly side things

So side strakes are no good? I have a brand new set in a box at home... I was going to put it on when I get an OEM lip and spoiler...

if it is not good, I might not want to put them on my car

Here's what I did and it's been working like a champ. Clean the mating surfaces of the car and the side strake really well with simple green. Buy some 3M double sided tape from Autozone and stick it together. That 3M stuff is SUPER STRONG when used properly. Hell, I don't even have that little post installed on the passenger side and the strake has held on even through the summer and getting nailed with cones at an auto-x!

Yeah, it's too bad they don't look all that great. Oh well.

I always thought they looked good. Just missing something in the front... behind the front tires

One of the members down here in SoCal (4motto) covered up the hole on each side with a Rick's Badge. His car is Berlina, and the Black Rick's Badge with Yellow lettering looks pretty nice. Cheaper than doing body work.

Just a thought.

The comptech side skirts will cover the side strake holes.

The urethane version is now out as well.

Ok.....here's the solution for the side strakes.

USE SUPERGLUE!!!

apply superglue on the fastener and then apply to the inside of the rubber edge molding. Attach the strake normally and apply pressure to the edge molding. Hold for about 2 minutes........voila! The side strakes are on.....FOREVER!!!!
