I actually prefer the stock digital tach when it comes to redline shifting.. i think its easier to see the RPM's rise on the stock tach (AP1 atleast since it stretches across the entire cluster)

Im already considering a tack. I dont trust the accuracy of the stock display and would like to keep an eye on subtle rpm changes at idle.

Personally, I prefer the digital tach... It is very easy to see when your coming up on 9k.

Get a big neon glowing tach and put it on the dash along with at least 6 other gauges. I'd recommend: outside temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, boost gauge (even if you're na), a narrowband o2 sensor, and a clock set to Japan time. Then take your airbox lid off, remove the exhaust, and get lots of stickers. This should pretty make you as JDM as they come yo!

I suspect you'll still be using the stock engine speed sensor, so I guess your problem is with the accuracy of the actual display in the dash?

I'm pretty content with it as it seems exactly accurate in terms of when it hits the limiter and such. Right matched up to the ecu. I won't be cluttering our small windshield space with any more gauges unless they're A-pillar but then what's the point of a tiny little tach that is out of sight line anyway.

The stock Tach is OK for me. Even if it is not exactly reading true, it is consistent. With that I can repeatedly shift just before rev-limit.
