Default Silly Hardtop Question

I SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED I'M BUYING IT USED...HE'S ONLY INCLUDING THE TOP...NO HARDWARE...GUY SAYS I CAN USE THE HARDWARE ALREADY ON MY SOFT TOP..IE THE LATCHES..DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT BUT YOU TELL ME...
I have a 2003...I'm considering buying a hardtop...
Do I also have to buy mounting hardware...strikers and latches, etc?
I'm confused if this is true of all s2000s or just the early models.
I want to make sure I can afford it.

Henry

wrong! you can't use the hardware from the soft top because one of the components is not there.
you need catchers and strikers for a hardtop.
you could reuse the strikers since you have a 2003. However, side catchers for the right and left MUST be purchased. there is no way to put the HARDTOP on with out the catchers.

Also, if you want to run the defroster, you might want to ask him if the defroster switch and harness come with the top. its not really hardware its just an accessory for the hardtop so maybe it comes with it.

Hardtopguy sells the necessary hardware needed.

I think everyone one needs a little clarification, the strikers are the point at the top of the windshield where the Hardtop latches, but the main thing you are missing is the sidecatchers and brushes. If you do not have those they are approx 500.00 from Hardtop Guy or 799.00 from Honda. The sidecatchers are where the top actually mounts to the side of the car just behind the doors. If you are looking at the one on eBay tell that a-hole to include the sidecatchers, he does not know what the hell he is talking about. He needs to take ten minutes to pull the panels and three bolts and send that with the top.

ok this is starting to make sense. so the strikers are the two pieces that are attached to the top of the windshield, not the hook part that stays with the convertible top.

so i need to get/buy the side catchers and the brushes...
