Silver S2000 or Yellow S2000 that is the question?
Guys there is a poll i placed on top to get some numbers i like both cars so just in opinions and thoughts i can't loose so i will get what i like but if the poll is 90 over to one side that will influence my decision!
Really this isn't so hard, at least at first.
Silver or yellow is a toss up. Get the silver first and the yellow second; or, get the yellow first and the silver second. You can't really do without both. Besides, for the price of a Boxster S nicely appointed, you'll have 480 hp, four seats, two steering wheels, four very lousy speakers. and plenty of luggage space.
Now the HARD question is what to get next. I'd get red, but I know quite a few would get black or white.
If I could ONLY have two to last me the rest of my life, I'd buy two blues--a light blue and a dark blue, and then I'd really confuse people when I alternate cars day after day and people think they're seeing things.

uhhh...
wendyman. dude. don't be lame. sportscar owners already have a rep for being dumbass male pricks. we really don't need your help in this...
oh, and by the way, a piece of advice... you'll have a better chance of getting lucky if you evolve past the cro-mag stage when it comes to how you think of and treat women.

Yellow is great for appearance, but IMO its more of the flash, less of the class type of color...
silver is great for being non-descript (as stated above)...
bottom line, buy what you like. I personally dont think I'd get yellow EVER, but that is just me. After getting my 99 Vette and seeing that yellow was available for 2000, I was glad I didn't wait. Aside from a few minor changes to the Vette, the only real reason to have waited 4 more months would have been for yellow...
same with the S2000... I would personally buy silver before waiting for yellow, but thats just me. I think it would get tiring after a while.
Of course, black was a silly choice because its always less than perfectly clean. But it sure looks nice on overcast days... and black with black top and interior just has a nice uniformity to it
as for age, anyone can finanace just about anything these days so what does it matter how old you are?
again, these are just my opinions. Do what you like. Are you financing or leasing? If you are gonna lease, then after a few years you could always change colors...
Unless you plan on using your equity to buy the car at the end. Thats one fun thing about leasing is that you can walk away saying "yellow was the dumbest choice I made" or you could walk away saying "I should have got yellow instead of silver"...

have fun!

Annie and I had a black 2000 and we both love yellow cars. When we heard they were coming out with yellow, we were all over that. My only fear was that it might be the same color as the Porsche yellow which is very mustardy. The first time I saw the yellow S2000, it was overcast and you couldn't see the pearl/metallic in the paint. I must tell you that in the sunlight, the yellow is gorgeous. And BTW, yellow is _not_ a girl color.
As for the argument of repainting a car, the silver has a number of different colors in it also. I don't think it'd be much easier to color match than the yellow.
After getting the yellow, we stopped by the dealership that we traded the black car in at and saw a new black one. I really missed the black as it is so beautiful when it is clean. However, they also had a yellow one on the showroom floor, and I realized once again that the yellow was the way to go.
One other BTW.... We also have a yellow Audi A4 1.8T. Both cars are gorgeous when they are by themselves. However, you put the two (the S2000 and the A4) together, and both of them look nasty! It's really weird. The S2000 is kind of mustardy and the A4 is more pastel.....
Anyway, like others have said, it comes down to whether you want to be noticed or not!

Nice and yes i will be leasing and never thought of changing but i want to lease cause that is all i can afford 375/month and at the end i was told it would be 17k to buy so if i get tired i guess i can change, that is a good way of putting it!
If you are on a budget, I'd also recommend checking what insurance will be. This car isnt cheap on the insurance (it costs more than my 99 Vette did to insure).
My g/f is leasing a 2001 325i sedan and basically just walked in, got a good price on trade in, and wanted green. She probably should have gotten a 330i Sport, but thats me thinking
anyhow, she figures she needs to keep the car the duration of the lease, and then probably buy it because otherwise the equity is gone. But, maybe she can strike a deal at the end of the lease on a 330i thats a lease return. I mean it should have the same mileage as her car and might only be a few thousand more than her residual.
So, in your case, you could get silver, drive it 3 years, and then at the end of the lease see if a yellow has come back in.
But you might also want to double check that residual of 17k. Seems a bit on the low side (good for you). Not sure what kind of money factor you are getting in the lease, as I dont know anything about you or who is signing what papers, etc...
Good luck though. And be sure to take a driving school. This car can bite if you arent quick with the hands.

sorry i just checked the est. i got on all, its 5k down 375.53/month 18,195.12 residual at 39 months, its msrp, and trust me in ny no ins is higher that the one on a type R, and i just sold mine and all i was paying was 157/month full. so my agency has the s2k listed as average and the type R listed as much worse than average. I did my homework on that!
