Default simple service - horrible result

Ever heard about surgeons taking out the wrong kidney?

I took my wife's beautiful white 2000 S2000 to Planet Honda in NJ.
Yes, the same place that kept the car 3 weeks for 30k service and a new clutch that was never installed.
Anyway, they were going to install the updated clutch.
After taking out the transmission, the bearing fell apart.
Does this kind of thing usually happen????? or just to us????
Ok, we ended up losing the car for another 2 weeks.
They changed 3 or 4 gears and synchros. Since we don't use it all that much in the winter, and we get new gears and clutch. We are fine with it. Except the rental car was a piece of junk.
I wish that was the end of the story.
When I picked up the car, I found tons of deep scratches (all the way to the metal) on the driver side. I simply don't know what to do. I'm beyond mad. While suggesting that those scratches existed before, they booked us for an appointment to get that fixed in 2 weeks....while those scratches rust. They even left this car outside one night in the rain. Our baby doesn't sleep outside!!!!!!!!

With deep scratches like that, do you think they can fix them up?
The last time they changed the bumper, the color was never matched after 2 tries.
They said it was because the bumper was not metal??????
I know nothing about paint.......I am begining to regret ever dealing with this dealership which we bought 4 cars in.

Time to change dealerships... this place sound rediculous.

I honestly look forward to working with my local dealership... YEARS and YEARS ago, they treated my `84 Prelude like gold! As did they with my `88 Prelude... So I expect them to do the same with the S2k...

And ever so politely, if they don't... I will kill them.

Only fair right?

Change is good!!!

I had to change dealers just to get my S2000 and I smile every time I drive by knowing that they did not get a cent of my hard earned money!!!!

Call AHM and complain. The dealers take their service surveys pretty serious. You may get a lot of help from AHM.

i used to work for planet honda on route 22. their paint jobs are horrible, be carefull w/ the overspray. feel the paint when you get your baby back. look all around the vehicle for signs of overspray. if any area of the car feels rough, just bring it back. i seriously recomend you take your vehicle to the guys down the street (Route 22 Honda). those people have great service. check em out.

before i bought my s2k, i walked in the dealer (planet honda) observing a yellow s2k that was sitting in the show room. no one came to assist me until i walked up to a salesman and asked for assistance. i was like: i want to get this s2k
salesman:"oh yeah? you got credit?"
i responded: no, this is the first car that i'm getting under my name
salesman:"bring dady w/ you and then we talk bussiness"
i walked out of there furrious. after that incident w/ planet honda, i went to bob ciasulli honda in route 440. as soon as i walked in there, they treated me like a king. just because i was young they didn't treat me any different. upon being treated w/ respect (like a real human being) i bought the car. the salesman was happy and so was i.

It is very hard to find a good dealership or mechanic these days. I can't stand leaving my car with anyone else, drives me nuts worrying about damage to the car.

First of all, let me offer my sympathy. It sounds like you are getting hosed and you're somehow managing to keep your cool.

I strongly suggest that you get in touch with your district service manager (his or her # should be in your owners manual) ASAP. I'd elevate this issue as soon as possible because it looks like it's getting out of control very quickly.

I hope that you are able to find some resolution.

What a bummer. I really, really wish that American Honda would read this board once in a while and see how freaking crappy some of the Honda dealers are. Not all, mind you, but a sizable majority just suck!

I've never really understood why more Honda service reps don't read this board.I brought it up to my service guy two weeks ago and his reaction was"oh yea,I've heard of it but never checked it out"...come on you people(meaning service reps)this is a direct pipeline to what the public think's about the job you do.

I didn't even tell you about the $2000 over sticker I paid for this car at planet honda, just a few days before other board members got it at MSRP.
