Skipping Gears
Is skipping gears bad for our car? For example, if I VTEC it in 1st, but the speed limit is 30mph, is it safe to just go straight to 4th at the end of 1st? Same thing on the on ramps for the interstate. If I redline it through 1st and 2nd, can I just shift straight into 6th and start cruising? I hope this makes sense!

skipping upward should not be an issue at all since you are bringing the RPMs down, but just dont skip shift when downshifting (ie. intending to go from 6th to 4th and miss and get into 2nd!)

Skipping gears isn't at all bad for the car, but it isn't really a good habit. You're better off always shifting sequentially, because it'll build up a muscle memory that'll keep you from screwing up later.

Skipping gears is fine, the transmission neither knows nor cares what gear you were in. If you notice, you ALWAYS shift through neutral (1-N-2-N-3...). So in fact there is no such thing as skipping gears. It's not a sequential shifter.
