Default Gears slipping...?

I noticed the other week when I got on it that when I shifted gears really fast that instead of it grabbing I just ended up high-reving. I let off my gas and it grabbed and I was able to speed up. I did some testing on my own and if I shift give it a second I can accelerate like normal but if I shift too fast and try and accelerate I end up doing what I explained in the beginning. Can someone tell me what is going out? Is it my Tranny or readend? Any help is appreciated.

There's nothing in your tranny that will slip....it's most likely your clutch....

I just did another assessment on it and just curious. Why does 1st gear hooks perfectly and any gear after that hooks fine as long as I don't push the gas too much? If I go about half way in any other gear then it accelerates just fine if I floor it, it slips and high-revs.

Because your clutch is slipping.

In first gear the lower gears the gear ratio favors the engine more. It's easier for the engine to push the car. In higher gears, it's harder for the engine to push the car.

Since your clutch is shot, it's still good enough to push the car in first gear where your car's inertia provides less resistance. In higher gears the car provides more resistance. Your shot clutch can't handle this resistance and therefore slips.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses and explanations. I guess I'll have to start shopping.
