Default Smaller gears question

Do smaller gears only make the s2k faster in first gear and by how much. Some people here like to rave about them. The reasons I dont want to do gears is because of worse gas mileage on the freeway and mainly i just want to be able to hit 62 mph in second (ap1) Thought opinions?

There's an official gears thread I believe. Has tons of info on them in there.
I used to have them but swapped them out once I got a sc. If I were to do it over again I would have skipped them and just went straight to the supercharger.

Ap1?

Yes gears make your car accelerate faster. It also cuts top speed in each gear so its a compromise.

Gears make a big difference in any car if done properly. A lot of mustang and camaro guys use gears and it makes a difference.

On an ap1 I would go with 4.57 maybe...4.77 are doable but I think its just a little nuts.
