Hi! As some of you know, I just got my S2K last Friday.
I noticed one day that when in idle, there small amounts of smoke coming out from the tail-pipes!!!
Is this normal? Is that the break-in process that the rings are not seating yet? Spitting out junk from the engine, headers, exhaust? I have now 325mi.
Anybody else experience this?
Thanks for any input!

I had this, Right when I was taking off (gently) from a
stoplight I see smoke in my rear view mirror. It looked
cool it had the circular turbulance pattern, kinda like the
jet trails you see behind jet planes.

It happened around 300 mi also. I think it's normal, if
not then hell it looked cool haha, the guy behind me was
staring like mad as he drove through the small
"turbulance"

What color is the smoke?
White means either condensation (good) or coolant mixing with oil (very bad). If the smoke goes away when the engine warms, it is the former. If it persits, could be nasty.

If it's blue smoke, that's not good.

May all your smokes be Havanas.

The smoke usually comes from the car being cold. It is the exhaust/engine warming up. You should notice condensation dripping out of the pipes. Also it could be your engine is rich, meaning that the conditions of where you live will cause the car to run rich=smoke. Or your motor oil is breaking itself in! If it is black black smoke you should have that checked out, if it is white smoke the first time you start the car in the morning that is OK.

I went down for my weekly fix of Vindaloo yesterday - not only do I have a smokey exhaust I also have a loose rear end.

Hopefully all will be back to normal tomorrow

I think smoke when vtec'ing just may be carbon and other stuff that builds up from poking around town for an extended period. Then when you open her up, she coughs all of that junk out of there. This hasn't been a problem for me, I run the piss out of her every chance I get!

No, no, no. White smoke means we have a new pope; black smoke means six more weeks of winter.
