Smoothing out V-Tec transition--Good thing???
I've read a lot of threads on how Mugen and any other header on the market smoothes out the transition to V-Tec. I was wondering if this is actually a good thing???? If the trasition is smoothed out, does that mean you are gaining power BEFORE V-Tec or loosing power AT V-Tec??? I'm just confused.
Only a dyno can tell you for sure. The Spoon header does subjectively smooth the transition, but that is due to decreased midrange torque being sacrificed for high rpm hp with stock ecu. With both the Mugen header and ecu I still notice a decent transition, but the difference might be less than stock, while the Mugen header increases midrange torque.
i agree with Prolene. get a dyno done and see how the hp and tq curves are.
i got the DC sports header and it does smooth out the VTEC point a little bit. i remember seeing a dyno chart some where showing an increase in hp a couple hundred rpm right before VTEC and after VTEC. (that's not my car's dyno, just used the search
function)
that's no a problem to me, the car just pull smooth that's all.
the only thing will be to lost some of the VTEC kick ... if you are into that sort of things
