Spoon Header makes my car slower!?

Default Spoon Header makes my car slower!?

hi all,

just installed the Spoon header this weekend and now when i vtec the car it felt that the vtec is weaker than before? i was just wondering if maybe i installed it wrong? what could have cause this to happen or maybe it's just me thanks!

You should reset your ECU, usually when you put bolt on like that you reset the ECU so that it learns to drive with the new bolt ons.

Characteristic of the header. Sacrifice low end and midrange for top end gains.

It pulls more at the top correct? If not... something is amiss.

if im correct, the header smoothes out the powerband making the vtec transition smother and less violent if you will.

that's the conclusion i had after i dynoed mine with spoon header. you should have A LOT more power post peak vs. a stock s2k, your VTEC transition is smoother, and the power curve should be more linear.

Spoon header has a nasty drop in torque around 6500-7000 rpm. That would certainly account for feeling weak.

Get a VAFC and lean it out, a lot, in that range.
