Why can't you move the car?

That reminds me of the folks who block traffic for miles after a fender bender on the highway. MOVE OUT OF THE WAY.

Officers in Lafayette (some of them at least) are not lenient at all about this behavior. People get tickets for that regularly.

Different case. If I was in the highway, it would make sense to move out the way, but this is a parking lot. The police and supervisor suggested that I leave the car as it is until the head of the heads (who the supervisor reports to) gets the message.

Plus, I have a permit to park there..

Someone hit my car about four months ago, damaging my driverside tailight and driverside bumper. $900 repair by dealer. I believe parts were around $500.

Why would you move it? Let a law enforcement officer document the scene first, especially if there is any chance you will have to get attorney to get the company to pay for the repairs. Leaving it sit is the SMART thing to do.

Obviously if you are on a highway, you need to get out of others way. This is an entirely different situation.

Ah, I recognize the color of those plates anywhere... a fellow NJ'r. They should make those guys take plowing classes or something.
