Default So far so good

most forums I see talk about the issues each car has...this thread is about a non issue car. I have owned my 04 S2000 since 11/03. Mostly been the only driver. Done 90% of my own work. I have put about 81,000 miles on it. One complete set of brakes, oil changes, valve adjustments, interior bits...unplugged the chimes for the key in ignition and door open, couple of batteries and sets of tires, dropped a K&N filter in the stock airbox...my car is stock and unmolested, other normal maintenance and fluid and filter changes.
This car has been superb in terms of cost of upkeep, hassles(none), never left me stranded. About 10 years ago I had a crash where I submarine d under a large suv, hood, fender, bumper skin, no frame or bumper damage.

Add a couple of windshields, a new top and trunk lid and repaint when it was vandalized at the body shop lot, new top frame too....

Now my baby looks a bit used...after 15 years or so... but good, petina abides since new. I have never owned a better car after 27 and still counting. I took it out today, I now average 1200 miles a year...what happens when you have too many cars and just so many miles to drive. My average mpg is 22-24, better on longer trips, say 28.

i love this car, even if it is slower than many on the road and the least powerful car I own. I fell in love when I drove it out of the showroom....

How did you turn off the key in ignition chimes?
Also great to hear you've been enjoying the car for this long! They don't make em like this any longer so hold on as long as you can.

you take off the column cover, maybe a couple of screws and pop off...you then take the small wire with it's fitting off the ignition and tape it off so it is out of the way, that turns off the chimes, but leaves the lights on chime. it was years ago i did this, so my memory is a bit vague,it's reversible

I suppose that I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this car as I actually get a kick out of the "chimes". It's like being transported back in time, even before driving the car (when I'm transported even further back in time).

Thanks for sharing your experience hirev!

I do enjoy that goofy little chime, I would never get rid of it. Something about it makes me giggle every time I hear it!
