Default So what's new?

Hello to those that remember me

It seems at times I go round in circles with my car choices. For those that remember, I changed my MY02 S2000 for a Caterham R300. I had an itch to build a Caterham, so, I've been there, done that, but now find myslef in a different situation where the kids are gowing up (my boy will be 5 this year) and I want a more practical car to go places in with him.

I've sold the Caterham and I'm now considering my next car.

I'm looking at a Cayman S (loads of dosh and will need to save long and hard to get one), a (dare I say it on here) Boxter S, or, as you may have guessed, an S2000 again.

I'm not sure I would buy new, there seems to be lots of good examples on the 2nd hand market at the moment.

But, having owned a MY02, I owuld want something of that age or newer. I remember that there was a model change in the 04(?), but this was mainly cosmetic with a few geometry adjustments for better 'lift off' stability, but from memory no engine changes.(?)

Has anything changed since then or are there any near future changes planned for the S2000?

Could I be tempted to get another one? I'm not sure. Having owned one, I'm of the opinion that it would be a backward step, but the 2nd hand market looks good. I would have to get one with the Mugen CAI, that was the best mod I ever made to my S. I wonder what my chances are of getting a 2nd hand car with this mod?

So over to the wise ones, should I get an S again? I do have fond memories of owning one, I still think they look the dogs and the blat (Caterham talk) we had oop North in the Lake district is still memorable.

Can you turn the passenger airbag off?

The 06 models have a sensor for the passenger airbag. Since you were gone:

2.2L engine
8k redline
New tranny gear ratios (shorter at first, taller on fwy)
Strengthened rear diff
Added chassis bracing
Drive-by-wire throttle
VSA -- Vehicle Stabilty Assist
Softer "more compliant" suspension
More aggressive looking bumpers
Revised front & rear lights
17" wheels and tires
Oval exhaust tips
Upgraded (still crappy) stereo
Stronger seat leather
A little more room in the cockpit
Clock added to dashboard

Thanks.
Is that all MY04 onwards or just MY06?

Don't forget

Daytime running lights
Glovebox (shelf)
standard roll hoop speakers
revised seats
exterior temp gauge in dash
colored radio door

Most of these and the changes above are for 2006
