All speculation on this topic is pointless! No one will know for sure until Honda makes an announcement, which might not even be until Sept. for all we know!

I just had a Muscle Car Flashback!

Made me think of the Ford Mustang BOSS 302, like this one, which was available in orange:

With yellow being the hot color this year it only makes sense that Honda would take the next step...

A friend of mine (a close associate with Honda of Japan) tells me that they are discontinuing the S2000 in 2002. As a matter of fact, Honda has all of the names of the owners and on Dec. 31, 2001, they are going to board the Honda mothership, and abduct us all, one by one.

Besides that, he also mentioned that the SO2s that we use have a special "hyper-kinetic" rubber compound that interacts with the muffler bearings and jupiter rings, creating greater handling. Changing those tires will throw off the time/space continum, making our cars exhibit the handling characteristics of a TT.

He told me other things, namely color changes, engine displacement, hardtop availability, etc. but I passed those off as flight of fancy.

I don't know what I'm going to do. After all, I have new years plans, need new rear tires and am having my car in the shop for the 1-2 grind. Anyone know of a good religion to join?

Dick Colliver's (SR. VP Marketing, American Honda) office informed me in March 2000 that their market research indicated that there was not enough demand in North America to justify introducing blue (at least for MY2001).

[/B][/QUOTE]I hope he's wrong, that's my favorite color...but maybe it's just because I can't have it...hehe.

The market demographics are simulations only, and are always way off...which makes you wonder why they even exist. I mean, think about the last gen Civic 3Dr HB. Every single year it was the slowest seller and it took them FOREVER to kill it. Where was their market research then?
Lastly, I personally wouldn't trust any information that states that an additional color on one the fastest selling, most sought after sports cars in the world wouldn't sell. Bullshit. Take the recent Yellow for example. Yellow has never been a strong color on any car in this country...save for the mighty Ferrari clan (and we all know why peeps buy yellow Ferrari's...hehe), so the fact that they released that color before blue makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever (beyond the "look at me" factor). What can one say about this company? Must be doing something right, although what that is can be said to be exhaustively speculative.

Based on Honda's experience with the S500/600/800 line it is clear that capacity increases to 2.4 litres in year 3 of production and 3.2 litres in year 5 are planned.

Oh, and we should also look forward to a return to chain drive in the S3200 too - this will solve all the diff problems (I'll bet you've been waiting for this one Reverend) and provide even better power to weight ratios.

I have to admit I'm not looking forward to oiling that sucker every 300 miles though!
