The strap

Shouldn't the left side of that photo be wrapped around the bar a full time before going into the rivets rather than just hooking over the top? It was a bit of a stretch when I did it on my 2002 but that's how the instructions said to do it.

You really need to make sure you removed those tonneau snaps or your going to have a broken window sooner or later.

Since you don't know you did, that means you didn't.

RavynX - That strap is DIY lol I didn't buy from Modifry. They only sell black so I made myself a blue one. I made mistake on the strap length. It was a little slack before I wrapped it around the rear bar and I am hardpressed to do the same for the front bar.

stitos2k - I don't know where are these tonneau snaps!! I need help!!

look in side the tub where the top folds. but look along the part toward the seats. you will see 4 silver snaps along that wall toward the front seats. you know while i think about this it's a 03 and it originally had a glass window. so those snaps shouldn't be there already. hey OP you didn't put in a new roof right?? you just did the new straps??

Mine doesn't go down all the way when it's cold but when it gets hot it goes down all the way.

Thats about how far mine goes down when its ~50 deg Fahrenheit....if your temps are near that then thats normal. The vinyl gets pretty stiff when its cold.

That strap doesn't look very elastic.

That's doesn't look too far off the mark, actually. The frame usually sticks up a bit on most people's cars, as far as a I know. As others have mentioned, temperature can make it stiffer and less compliant, too.
