Default Soft Top Leak

I got into the S today after some rain and a bunch of water came out of the middle joint of the soft top frame on the passenger side. The seat was not wet when I got in, it came out when I backed down my driveway. Has this happened to anyone else???

Is it where the middle joint meets the window?? If so I had the same problem. You could try and put a thin layer of shin-etsu grease and leave it over night with the window down(if you leave the window up you'll get a coat on the window which is hard as heck to clean). In the morning just wipe it over with a clean terry cloth. That took care of the leak for me.

The S is an 01, and it is the middle joint that is against the window. I never heard of shin-etsu grease, can I get that at my local auto store or is it something you have to get mail order?

My '00 has never had a leak. I treat mine twice a year with GM Silicone Emulsion - way cheaper than the Honda stuff.
ps. You can get the Honda stuff at any dealer or you can order it from one of the site sponsors - HandA or Ganley.

i had this leak and the dealer has adjusted then changed the rubber still leaked. Finally they adjusted the top and i noticed that it was much tougher to close the clamps and the seal as a result was much tighter. Of course it hasn't really rained since then here in cali so i'll see in a month or so. I have hosed the car down for cleaning numerous times and all is dry.

Could be grease, then.

With my Miata, I had leakage problems occasionally if I rolled the window up with the door closed, rather than opening / closing the door (with window already up). Sometimes, rolling the window up just didn't make a good seal because the rubber might've been out of position. I wonder if your S has a similar problem.

Good luck.

Is this a lot of water leaking? Could be condensation, similar to what you see on your windows but it's accumulating on the inside of the softtop.
