Default Soft top repair

I have a very small tear on the top I am going to fix. I have the OEM patch fabric for our car, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions that can help me in this process.
thanks!

Small tear is like a little bit pregnant, Do a search here. Roofs have been patched for 20 years here and there are photos, etc. Yeah, it takes some effort to find them. Something as simple as Black GorTex patches work but even the most skilled patch will be glaring every time you look at the car. Start saving your lunch money for the eventual new roof.

I also have a very small tear on my soft top, after some research I purchased a patch kit called “The black hole patch”

It comes with several pieces along with adhesive you don’t have to buy glue.

Once it comes in, I’ll report here on how it goes

here’s that link to the item

In my case, my convertible top tore at the normal spots towards the end corners by the rail. The black hole patch is not a permanent fix. If you open the roof, the patch catches on to the rail and somewhat ruins the patch. You will have to reapply it. It is solid though if you don't use the roof and apply some glue, like E6000

Be sure to smooth the sharp edges of the roof frame where they rub against the roof fabric. Some have burrs which I found about only after wear was rubbing thru the fabric.

My MIL made car tops for a living. When we bought our S it had a small tear(less than 1") in the top, my MIL showed us how to sew it up. That was back in 2010 and we still have the same top on the car today.
My suggestion is to take your car to a local business that does car tops.
