Default Soft top replacement

I am looking at replacing my 05 with a new soft top. Can anyone comment on what I should be looking for. I see some go with the OEM Honda original and others with the Robins top. As for the Robins top I see two choices the Haartz Twillweave or the Haartz Stayfast top. Not sure which to choose, any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

I would ask @myflys2k , he is the go to guy for installing tops in southern Ontario. I'm guessing he has dealt with all 3 of the types you mentioned.

both robins tops are great. I wouldn’t go with oem Honda just because the price is more than double that of the robins or Sierra tops found here. http://autotopsdirect.com/

the difference between the two robins tops is personal preference. One is cloth and the other is vinyl like the oem top. This is the same for the Sierra as well. If you can’t decide come to an S2k meet and see for yourself. I’ve done well over 100 tops by now and I’d say little more than half of them are the stayfast cloth from Sierra…Almost identical to the robins cloth top.

So, I understand the OEM top is double the price, my question is will it last longer and is it better quality? If I am just wanting the best softop available regardless of cost, which one do I go with?

“More than double the price”. more like triple
visually they are identical minus the Honda logo on the glass for oem.

So, for example, I have heard of people having issues with window glue on their tops, is this an issue with both oem and after market? How about expected life, are they both the same?

Genuinely seeking your opinion, not disagreeing.

the reason why I recommend the Sierra tops or the Robbins tops is because they are well made and no manufacture defects. Unfortunately I don’t know if they will outlast oem soft tops but I do know several people with aftermarket tops that I’ve installed approx 8 years ago and still have no issues.

I have the original OEM top on my garage kept 2006. With monthly cleaning and protection, it has done very well. However, when it comes time to replace, I won't be using OEM Honda since the material just seems so rinky dinky.

the Robins cloth top looks so rich and luxurious in comparison but I wouldn't know which one is easier to clean- will things like bird poop come off easy?

Thanks for the advice, ordering a Robbins top today.

A fine choice,
One of the very first things I did to my S2k was replace the top. Off an AP1, the OEM softop rear window had severe cracking, and was completely yellowed. For that reason I went with a Robbins with a glass back (non heated).

Some of the pro's: it's richer in color and dare I say thicker than the OEM material of that generation. The fitment is spot on, no weird wrinkles or defects. It's easy to clean, I simply pressure wash with soap and every so often scrub it with a brush and some fabric cleaner.

One thing you may discover though is that the old holes for the elastic are going to have to be drilled and a rivet reinstalled. This part is crucial for your top to fold down correctly, so just take your time

The past few years it looks exactly like that day I installed it, no fading or wear to be noted anywhere. Through hail, bird droppings, and constant sunlight
