i think people have more problems with their tops tearing than having them mess up going up and down.
i know its possible but its not something i worry about at all i like driving top down and do it every time i can sometimes it goes down and back up 4 times a day i daily my car as well.

i park my car at night in the fortress that is my house with the top down and when i drive to school it goes up. when i leave school and generally stays that way. i hate putting the top up and down just because it makes me cringe. my top is immaculate and i hope it stays that way. im glad to see all these people putting it up and down more than me and having no problem!

I assume you mean the top goes up when you get to school, and you put it down in the evening at some point (thus explaining why it's down in the garage)?

Either way, you should be enjoying it more. It's just a top. It can be patched if you get any rips/holes, and eventually replaced if necessary.

Uhg, I failed at typing that. You are correct, I have covered parking at home so my top is almost always down. When I get to school I put the top up. Generally if I'm going to the market or anything else that's quick I just leave it down. I feel like it would wear a lot if I put it up every time I parked it.

90% of the time I drive my S2000 the top is down.

I too have a V1, and I rarely leave the top down when it's parked somewhere, but if I do leave the top down I take my V1 out of the car. I don't like leaving the top down and having it parked for long periods of time because the interior gets dusty very quickly and I don't care for the beating that the sun puts on the seats.

I am uncertain about soft top motor wear, but when I had my soft top replaced two years ago, the interior shop that did the install told me two things: 1) Always put it up when you are done driving it for the day so that when you do put it up the next time it's not at a lower temperature and stresses the vinyl by stretching it out...and 2) Be sure to condition the top with 303 Aerospace Protectant on a regular basis if the top is exposed to the sun and climate for long stretches of time while in the up position. Keeping it damp with 303 makes the vinyl more flexible and not brittle.

Pretty much everyday. Sometimes 2-3 times a day.

At least once a daily, which during the warm weather months is about 5 times a week.

It goes down in the morning (assuming it's dry) and will stay there, as it's parked in a garage while I'm at work, so it is protected from the hot sun or elements, but no garage at home so it goes back up in the evening

I have the small tear forming on the passenger side in the most common spot, one of the places where the frame contacts the top itself. I've just been applying tenacious tape to keep it from worsening - when I find a good way to patch it, I will probably opt for that. Despite the tear forming, this does not stop me from putting it up and down every day. It's just a top!

Smooth out those contact points on the frame to stop that wear issue! It's those sharp edges that cause the rip while the top is down. The Honda TSB is floating around here on the forum somewhere, with the fix detailed.
