Hi

I haven't been around for a while, not that I participated much anyways.

I decided to sell my s2000. With all the transmission problems I have had, it got to the point that this car was a major liability waiting to happen. I am picking up my Carbon Black/Black in about 2 weeks. The only options it doesn't have is 19" rims and SMGII.

Things I will miss about the S2000:

1) Transmission: The reliability blows, but when it was working it was the best. The M3 has such a long throw (but not like an S4)
2) Convertible: Couldn't really afford the M3 convertible so I had to go with the coupe
3) Look At Me: The looks of the S2000 were really outrageous and I loved it.

That being said, I look forward to picking up the M3. I don't think I'll be dissapointed. The break-in period is 2000km (roughly 1200 miles) and you can't go over 5500 RPM!! Ack how will I do it.

Thanks everyone and I plan to stick around for a while.

Rob

Congrats on the M3! There aren't many cars I'd trade my S2K in for, but the E46 M3 is definitely one of 'em!

I don't think the transmission is THAT bad in terms of reliability...is it?

Weren't the kinks worked out in the 02+ models?

Anyhow, sorry to hear that you sold the stook ( ) and hope you have globs of fun with your M3.

He probably meant selling the S2K...

Good luck with your new purchase... It is hard to "upgrade" from a car such as the S2000, but the M3 is definitely a solid choice and decision... I am sure that you won't regret your decision, but I am sure that you'll miss your S2000...

Don't forget to post some pics.

Congrats. Are there any dealers selling them for MSRP yet? (I'm in the Chicago area). Also, is leather standard, or do you have to buy the premium package to get it? thanks.

Hi JohnE

I am in Canada and as far as I know everyone sells cars with no markup.. It's MSRP or under. I got mine for MSRP.

In the US, almost everything is an option (leather, harmon kardon, etc) .. But in Canada everything is standard almost.. the only real options left are smg, 19" wheels, ski bag, park distance.... everything else is standard pretty much.

When I bought the car I had to sign an agreement saying I wouldn't export it to the US for the first year!!
