Great choice! I'd buy one too, if I could afford it.

I didn't know they had 19's as on option. Same design, only bigger? Or is it a different wheel? How much?

What do you guys pay (MSRP) for a base model? So, 2001 models are exportable to the US?

I am in Canada and as far as I know everyone sells cars with no markup.. It's MSRP or under.

19 inch wheels are about a 2100$ option (so about 1400 US roughly).. and you lose your 18's.. I really wanted SMG and 19" but it was just pushing it too much as I am already pretty stretched on the M3 just by itself!

The car cost me 74K Canadian or about 47K US.. Taxes are an additional 15% plus there is a lux tax on the registration of 1%

Yes it is cheaper to buy it in Canada then in the states. But I think that when you bring it down it almost comes even.. I heard about one guy from NY who bought it in Montreal and saved 6000$ USD but that could just be BS... I don't know who would have sold it because it's illegal for a dealer to export these cars to the US or even their clients like me..

The 19's look similar in my opinion.. There are always pictures floating around the message board:

Congrats Rob, you made a great choice with the E46. Not too many cars that you can move up to from when you have an s2k without sacrificing much. The E46 happens to be a step up and a little sideways as it is a sedan but it is the obvious choice for a stooker wanting to upgrade...

Oh, how much did the dealer end up giving you for your s2k? PM me if you don't want it all over the net.

Give me a call and lets hook up once you get it broken in.

Maybe we can do a few rolling starts too and see how badly you will kick my ass.

BTW guys: Knowing s2kmtl, he will kick the car long before the break in period is over.

Hey Sev

Actually I plan to follow the breakin as the car is really mine and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

I got 36.600$ for the S2000 with 52000 KM and brand new S02 tires all around (just put them on at Talon last week).. I owe 39.500$ so I had a net loss of around 3000$

Rob

Sorry to see you go, dude.

Anyway, hurry up and get a Supersprint exhaust. That factory M3 exhaust note sounds like someone blowing their nose into tin foil!! I should know, I have to listen to it everytime one of those bastards "races" me at a red light. Those E46 M3's are everywhere now, too!

Congrats Rob! I think you made a great choice! Where did you buy it? At BMW Canbec? It would be cool if you would've chosen the SMG transmission.
It sucks that you didn't save money.
Anyways, have fun!
