I see why people pay double just to have someone else do this job. Not fun at all! But anyway, I read different threads and decided to take on the project myself. All in all, I'd say it wasn't too taxing on the brain, but it is physically. Lots of pulling, bending on your knees, sweat, beer, no tears, oh and cursing! Lol. It took me 2 days. The original to was OEM but in really bad shape. You could touch it with very little force and tear a hole into that thing. And it also was a hassle because I couldn't drive the car when it was raining. I know you all have seen these threads time and time again, so I won't bore you with the details. Just wanted to share my experience. Old top interior cut Passenger side rip that would flap in the wind Eye sore#1 Eye sore #2 Closer look at the rip Driver side 2 tears.. I did not use that blade myself lol Almost there This rain rail gave me hell!!! It did not want to close.. turned the heat on in the car for about 15 mins and that did the trick Back together Another view of the finished product
Looking good! That sounds a lot like my experience as well... took me about a full weekend to get it all together. What brand and material of top did you get?

I went with Robbins stayfast. Hopefully it holds up for a few years. The car is in the garage, but I'm not sure if wearing away on the bars will still be too much for it to hold upto. What brand and top did you use?
I am planning on doing this soon. Did the Robbin's top include the elastic strap on top and also the rear side mounted to the deck area? Also where did you purchase the Robbins top?
BTW good work and it looks great!

It came with only 2 straps. The rear deck one I reused because that one isn't actually elastic. Definitely do the job soon and take your time, it's great experience. I bought mine from eBay. Also, I wouldn't use those snaps that come with the top for the rain rail. Just use some screws with the post and the washers
I’ve tackled that beast solo, twice! First time was because the original was torn. Second time was because of a warranty issue on my Robbins Top but their customer service was top notch.
