I've been looking for a new roadster and have been considering both. I have seen a few Solstices on the road since I live in the Detroit area. I actually like the looks better than the S2000. I've also looked at the Audi TT and 350Z.

I agree it's not a good comparsion between the S2000 and Solstice, they're not in the same league, but it's a 2nd car for me that will only be drven on weekends and such so a 10K difference is a big deal. However I was told by a dealer that they will only be building a 1000 or so this year and they are already sold so if I order one now I'm looking at least next spring.

I loved the S2000 however I found it a bit of a tight fit. No tilt wheel and the seats were a little narrow for me. Also the dealer would not let me test drive a new one. Is that normal? They found a used one (2002) on the lot for me to test drive. Does the 05 drive much different? Also, are there aftermarket seats that are better. Someone mentioned that they go thru tires in 10k, is that normal?

I drove a 350Z and found that a better fit for me, but after doing some research on the net found an unbelievable amount of complaints about the front tires having to be replace in 8-10k.

Thanks for any advice.

Pontiacs are notoriously unreliable. Hondas are not

Now, "that" sounds familiar, doesn't it! It might be true, might not, but the fact that it's coming out of a salesman's mouth should raise a red flag somewhere.

Have you confirmed this little tid-bit with any other dealers?

Just wondering!

Good luck,
Steve R.

Is it just me, or does the Solstice look great until you see that gawd ugly pontiac-grilled front end? It is just hideous to my eyes...
No, it's not just you, it is hideous. And worse than that, it's GM crap. After 10K miles, it'll be a rattle trap.

I'm not feeling this shot, at all.

Being from Motown, I feel your pain. Buy American.

I really don't see how people could think this car looks better than the S. How crappy does that front end look for crying out loud.

The S doesn't have to be 15K more expensive. You want a fun 2nd car? Get an AP1 (00-03) that you will find in your price range. That way you keep the 9K redline too. The AP2 is fugly IMO
