I actually do suffer from OCD and I was stuck on the improper spelling of 'there' when it should be 'their'. Then you corrected it later in the sentence and got it right. So then I was focused on why that happened.

Then the poor picture grabbed my attention and I became obsessed in figuring out what you're talking about.

I'm gonna log off now and tidy the kitchen.

I think I've proven in other threads that I'm OCD.

I may have to try the tonneau cover bolts thing. Despite the fact that my OCD was screaming "It's not 'tonue'! AAH!" Gah, how did the other OCD sufferers miss THAT one?

Some of the members in our area (Atlanta) have experimented with removing that plastic piece mentioned in the original post. Most of its purpose is to make sure air goes both through the radiator and over the radiator and into the intake as well as over the engine.

There are several oval slots in the plastic at the bottom front of that plastic bit and the air that doesn't go through the radiator goes through these slots and then into the intake or over the engine. The plastic divider is there to control how much air goes which direction so that everything is getting enough.

Some members have mentioned the car runs hotter when the plastic piece is completely removed. Apparently because more air is going over the radiator as opposed to through it now that there's a path of lesser resistance.

Other members have pulled it out and put in various cooling plates that block off all but the intake. One in particular (MGRMLN on S2KAtlanta) noticed a drop in horsepower on the dyno (HolyRollerDyno's DynaPack).

After a lot of experimentation, it was discovered that not enough airflow was going over the cylinder head due to the cooling plate and the coil packs were getting too hot.

His solution was to (a) enlarge the cutout around the cooling plate's holes for the hood latch to get some airflow over the engine (b) tape over the hole behine the hoold latch so the air coming through the cooling plate didn't redirect through the hood framework © remove the coil pack cover and (d) use one step colder spark plugs (which netted 5hp over the entire RPM range)

Seems like a lot of effort to go through to end up losing horsepower and then trying to get it back again.

But the cooling plate was indeed shiny.
