We just have to wait and see. If there is an 09, it will simply be a rebadged 08 anyway, and hopefully 08 and 09 will be a total production quantity equal to that of 07 alone. There is no way Honda would be stupid enough to produce this car at the same level into 09. The damage has already been done market wise for this car though unfortunately.

This is why a toned down cost reduced $30k MSRP version for 09 or 2010 makes sense. They can't have a 35kmsrp on this car anymore, and need to price it in the afforabililty of the Solstice, Sky Miata market. There is simply nothing for it to compete against, execpt for the REDLINE, GXP and Mazdaspeed versions of the competitors, and at the current MSRP, it's just not smart for Honda.

If Honda offered new colors, that could spur sales. There are a lot of existingowners that would trade up for a new color. The installed base in the US is approaching 70,000.

For the past 8 years, our color choices have basically been black, white, silver, yellow, red and blue.

From THAT article:

That ISN'T PROOF. It may be a STRONG rumor, it may be right, it may be supporting your position, but it isn't PROOF.

Don't be ridiculous. If you read it on the internet, it must be true!

First off, I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with any of this. But, I do have to say that it doesn't make sense for Honda to cancel the S2000 after making all the changes in '08, with the addition of the CR model included as part of those changes. As small and insignificant as some of you may think these changes are (and there are quite a few), it wouldn't make financial sense for Honda to put in the time and money to develop them if they're just going to offer it for 1 year. That's a pretty clear reason to keep it around for at least 1 more year to me. Even when the slow-selling del Sol got a facelift in '96, they still brought it back in '97 before killing it off.

Doesn't make sense to build cars no one is going to buy either.
