Someone backed into me
Stopped at a STOP sign. The truck in front decided to back up and before I could honk, it was half way up my hood! She was an out of state driver, with an expired auto insurance and an expired driver's license (from a 3rd state). I was pissed as hell, took some breaths, reported to insurance -- for someone's stupidity I have to pay for the deductible and carry the claim on my policy.
Damage: hood (replace), front bumber (replace), front left headlight (replace), front left fender (repair). Insurance's assessment came at $2,000, mostly with "Quality Replacement Parts." Left the car with the Acura dealer to start work on it, and requested that they only use OEM parts. We'll see what their final estimate is.
Ah well, let's wait for the car to come back from the body shop; I certainly miss it already.

My sentiment exactly---I haven't had an accident for some 14 years. The S2K has been in pristine condition from the prior owner; 2004 model with 28K miles.
It's times like this that I'm tempted to go for a tough off-road vehicle with two huge after-market fenders front and rear...better yet, go for the full monty, a Hummer H1. Ah well...
