It could be the Japanese thing.... but I doubt it. There are a lot of rednecks down here who just love NASCAR and everything "all-american". I work in Davie, AKA redneck central, and see ignorant wild eyed southern boys on a daily basis. Mega rebel-flag bumper stickers, "Do you know why it is so windy in the South?.... Because the North Sucks" stickers, "I don't care how you do things up North" etc...
As a Long Islander who has been living here for 11 years, I just tell them I am here as part of the "occupying force" from the civil war!!, and, I can not believe they made me buy my house!! (to the victors go the spoils of war...).
I also like to say that I do not like NASCAR, I like "Fast Cars" (Formula One, Cart, IRL) It kind of leaves 'em speechless with chewing tobacco dripping from their chins!!!
Does anyone who drives German cars elicit the same response??? After all, the German's committed far more atrocities in WWII than Japan, albeit they didn't "sneak attack" us.

This is my whole take on the Japanese car thing. I have had more than a few people criticize me for buying a "Jap" car over a U.S. made car. I have a little different angle on it because of my time in the military. I tell them, "look, I spent 10 years serving my country...can you say the same??? If I want to drive a car with parts made in Japan, assembled in Russia by a Chinese guy that's my prerogative. I've done my time...I've served my country....now let me drive any damn car I can afford or want to drive."

So there's a Chinese guy who lives in Russia that assembles Honda S2000's?

A dangerous and none too accurate comment. Especially considering the number of Chinese, Koreans, SE Asians, and Pacific Islanders on this board.

PM me if you want a list of things to look up, if you have the stomach for it.

Group of jealous teens in a Blue Civic SI next to me at a light one time said in a mild voice, "Excuse me sir, but I was wondering IF YOU COULD SICK MY KoCK!" . In which I replied, "What?, Like you sucked your dads kock to get that car!" Shut Them UP!

These are going to be the same Sick Kids that will contribute to my Social Security Golf Fund Someday.

I dont think what happened in the past is important in relation to the cars we choose to drive. If I were to be American which IM NOT, I still wouldnt drive the pieces of shit they make and like S1999+1 said, just let people drive whatever the F$@* they want. Whatever happened in that particular WAR decades ago doesnt affect the way I make my decisions about buying a car today.

If they attacked us "sneaky" like KevinS2K said, well I think you should read a little more and see what other countries think about this one. Althought most people say is jelousy and most ofthe time it is, i wonder what is the rest of the times .

The point is whoever does stupid shit this days like flipping the finger because the cars are from a country that was at war with us at a point in history are very much FU$*#*# IGNORANTS. No offense to anybody here but if the shoe fits wear it.

NICE O.S. reference!!

Well, on topic, I would chalk it up to the fact that you, too, live in South Florida where no one can drive, everybody is in a bad mood, and jealousy of others is practically a state way of life.

I can't tell you how annoying it is to me that:

1. no Floridians (besides me ) know how to drive in the rain. If you can't handle a little moisture in the air, GET OFF THE ROAD, JACKASS!

2. no Floridians (besides me ) know what the "Hammer Lane" is for. No, this is not where you are supposed to hide from other faster motorists while fiddling with your g*ddamned cellphone and singing MC Hammer tunes...

3. no Floridians (besides me ) know what that stalk on the left side of the steering column is for. It's called a turn signal, and you use it to inform other drivers of your intention to change lanes BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY DO IT!!! Arrrgh! This one kills me.

What's worse still? Combine all three of the above bad behaviors. This was what I experienced trying to make it from Lauderdale to Boca on I-95 last Friday night.
All of these fargin' ice-holes needs to back to wherever they came from.

Aaaaah. I feel better know.
For whatever it's worth, when I get flicked off or feel the need to display my wrath to other drivers, I simply wave at them and smile.. this helps me resist the urge to get violent. It's just not worth it to get shot by some homicidal Florida miscreant over "traffic ego."

Peace... and Good Luck surviving. [QUOTE]

I could drive in the rain and I know how you feel. On the streets everyone slows down to 20 mph and on the highway about 35 mph. The feelin is horrible. My tutor is the best driver Ive seen in the rain and he is the happiest man when it rains. I guess u r one of them.
