Default Is this something I should jump on?

Friend told me there is a NFR MY05 with only 8,000 miles just 5 miles from my house. She said she went to check it out and the man that was selling it was only wanting 18k. (It's very hard to find an S2000 in Kentucky).

The man claims he is very angry at his son. (I assume he's selling the car to teach him a lesson) I'll be heading over there today and taking a look at it.

Does this sound fishy to anyone? Or would you say to pounce?

I would of thought the NFR 2005 with 8k miles would go for at least 25k.

I know the car was redesigned with AP2, and I also know that 06+ has vsg. Does the 2005 have anything special about it?

I would jump on it. Make sure to have it totally checked out for accidents and a leakdown/compression check.

Call Honda and give them the VIN of the car - Ask if the warranty has been terminated for any reason.
Take it to an independent mechanic and get an evaluation. If he points out any issues, ask the original owner to fix it under warranty from a dealership of mutual choice. This way, you will make suere that the warranty has not been cancelled for any reason (abuse of vehicle, more like!)
This happened to me from an Infiniti dealership here in NJ and I backed out after my mechanic suggested to get the rear diff - vehicle was an 05 Yellow, with 19K under warranty last year!
Honda promptly confirmed that the vehicle's warranty had been cancelled due to repeated abuse.
I am not scaring you - If it is too good to be true, You wanna make sure it's true!!
Best of Luck.

Doesn't sound fishy at all. You should see what AP2's are going for at auction these days. New ones don't sell well and many dealers are afraid of them. If they got their price from a dealer, it goes hand in hand with what AP2's are truly going for.

I was thinking I could just buy the car for 18k then sell it for 22k. Then buy an AP1 Berlina in great condition.

I can only speak for my location, $18k would be a very good price. (If there are no issues with the car / warranty)

$18k could be what a Honda dealer offered. Add about $1,800 for Honda certified and $5k in markup. $24,800...That sounds about right, and leaves a little room for the dealer to "knock $2,000 or so off the price" so you feel like you got a deal.

This car on ebay would prolly go for about $21,500...
