Default Sometimes I Think I Made the Wrong Choice About....

well, about 2 weeks I ordered the Jic single outlet titanium exhaust and a Toda header after hearing so much nice stuff about it. I recently decided i was gonna go all motor on my S2000 and i also made the choice I was only going to get the top of the line stuff for my S. My header and exhaust still have not arrived but the header cost me $1100 and the exhaust cost me $1100. My question is, are these two mods are worth it? I already have an Injen CAI on my car and plan on getting alot of other performance mods for my car but man! $2200 just for an exhaust and header!! I mean, i may change my mind at anytime about these 2 products considereing they havent come in yet, but I love the Toda header and I love the fact the JIC only weighs about 7 lbs...but if this isnt the right choice sometimes i think, then what other performance parts would i buy with $2200. i mean, should i jus stick with these 2 mods or should i use the money to buy some other mods for the car. what would u guys get (performance wise that is) if u had $2200. I mean, parts for this car are so freakin expensive!! my friend has a mustang and hes always makin jokes sayin u paid $1100 for a header? my car takes 2 headers and it would still be cheaper than urs or $600 for a throttle body for ur car? for my Mustang its only $200. i try to explain to him that our car is more rarer than his and Mustangs are everywhere but anyways, the point im tryin to make is did i buy the right performance mods since im jus startin out and going all motor, or should i get my $2200 back and get something else first, but then in all due time, im going to need the exhaust and header anyway...well what would u guys do? thanks sorry for the long post.

Let your friend know that you get what you pay for, j/k. You could go with other brands if you wanted unless you have done research on these items and that there is proof that they yield good numbers on the dyno. At these prices they are no longer "look good" items. Go for the performance side and then ask yourself first if you can afford it and if those numbers are worth the price. Save up for a turbo or a blower, but you'd end up getting the exhaust and maybe the header. Not bad choices in parts, but decide quickly and make sure those are going to make somewhat of a difference on your car while you still have time to backout.

First problem, don't compare prices against a mustang. There are so many of them and the 4.6 has been around for awhile and the 5.0 even longer. Everything for the Mustang will be cheaper. Go compare prices for our cars compared to say a Viper. It's a lot more expensive.

The parts you purchased are top-of-the-line. They are great products. JIC's exhaust is extremely light and you'll notice it. Not many exhaust will give you power, so it's mainly about weight and sound. You've picked a good exhaust to get weight down. Supposedly, the Toda header is the best on the market for gains. Basically, if you're going NA, it'll be twice as expensive, but these mods are perfect for the best gains in an NA platform. If you don't want to spend that much, get a single(non-titanium) exhaust and spend the rest on a rear gear. This you will probably notice the most.

This is a car that costs to upgrade. Research carefully and go for what you want to achieve with your car. Honda did a great job, so don't expect dramatic results.

Consider yourself luck that you don't have a German car. I had an Audi and my friend has the new BMW M3....now those performance parts cost a fortune for what they are. It is insane how expensive it gets to add the simplest upgrades to those cars.

If I had $2000 to spend I know exactly what I would get.

I would drop the car Aprox $500
I would get a 4.77 gear set Aprox $1500

And call it a day. That's should make the biggest difference for the least amount of money.

Those mods won't add that much hp unless you pair it with VAFC tuning. Most folks usually gain 10-13 hp after tuning with the right exhaust. Notice increase in the middle(VTEC kicks in at 5200rpm) and how power stays flat and increases after 8300rpm.

Blue - VAFC tuned + mods below
Red - 4ig intake + mugen header + mugen exhaust

Dynojet in 3rd gear and temp in the mid 90's. *Abzug's dyno

hmm, i would get a supercharger but then after saving so long for that, im going to want the toda header and jic exhaust to go with it...i mean i was planning on someday getting a supercharger too, but right now i just got $2200. plus i would need to come up with another $2000 and i would end up spending hundreds of dollars for installation and tuning, so i cant afford a supercharger right now and i dont feel like savin forever to get one...Hyperpm is suggesting i tune it with VAFC...is that the v-tec controller ur talkin about? and if u install a v-tec controller do u have to tune it too? thanks. i really dont know what i wanna do...is it worth it to jus forget these 2 parts and go with a supercharger or a turbo? i want those gears that s2-raw was talkin about too. also S2k1 is right that the parts i bought are top of the line. its just one day i wanna make my car like a 12 second car or somethin, so i dont know, im jus tryin to see whats out there.
