Soon to be S2k Owner
I am in the process of parting out my 5th Gen prelude so I can get into an S2k and I seriously pumped... I am planning on getting an 2002 model. Any advice or suggestions on pros/cons about the car and any specifics I should look for in potential s2ks that I might purchse ... Thanks in advance.
BTW - I dont need any color advice...after much debate I have narrowed it down to red or black.

Hey,
I had a 5th gen Prelude not too long ago. Sold it and now I'm about to get a S also. I've seen some MY02's running for about $20k now. I was part of the www.bayareaprelude.com group....not sure if you are from Northern Cali???
Anyhow, good luck w/ the search!

what do ya mean?
Super stiff suspension and rear wheel drive can create some "interesting" situations for unexperienced/over-zealous drivers.
As for tips for buying used, I would say to run a CARFAX on any s2k you are seriously considering. As for things to look for I think its safe to say that I would treat the car search like you would when considering any sports car purchase. Look for signs of abuse, modding, etc. Get a compression test done if you want to really be safe about the condition of the engine.
Depending on the mileage of the car in question, try and find out if the previous owner(s) ever changed the tranny and/or differential fluids.
If it helps give you any idea, I just bought my '02 here in FL from a private seller for $21k with only 10,500 miles on it. That seems to be considered a really good deal from what people have told me, but $20k or so for an '02 with more normal mileage (20-30k) is normal I think.
I guess it ultimately depends on your market.
Good Luck!
Craig

I dont think that I will have too much trouble getting used to RWD ... Before my lude I had 2 95 240sx and while they dont have the power of the S it sure was easy to lose the back end on those things... actually the first 240 I had I killed when I flipped it 3 times... Sooo, needless to say I am a much more cautious drive....especially with RWD.
Thanks for all the feedback guys... I cant wait .... and right now I am leaning towards Red
