but i liked how i could throw my civic around (fixed up suspension) and never have to worry about losing control as the front nose-dived and remained planted into the ground.

however, rwd is definitely more fun and I can never go back to fwd.

as for the original topic, I can't imagine a B motor being louder...

A friend of mine used to have an 00 Civic Si and IMO you can hear the crossover a little better than an S2000. I think it has a lot to do with the fact the Si is a quieter car, less distraction caused by other noises. As far as the "kick", I think the S2000's is stronger.

appreciate all the replies

my car is a 2001 with 26000 miles on it

My cars VTEC kicks pretty hard most of the time and i can definately feel it but the sound just isnt there for me. I use to love the sound of a SI GSR or SH. How does the comptech airbox do for the sound of the crossover? Maybe i cant hear it because of all the distractions in my cabin, something is vibrating (like plastic) in the middle of the dash i think.

I think the Type R Integra has the loudest VTEC cross over sound....

Louder donesn't always mean better. My RSX-S had a loud VTEC cross over, but on the DYNO the VTEC dip was ing retarded.

Yeah, I loved the sound of VTEC in my '99 Civic Si with an intake. But I could never feel anything, it just made a distinct noise at 5500rpm. Whereas in my s2000 I can definetly feel a boost of power and hear the crossover. I'm sure intake would make it even more apparent soundwise. I'll keep my s2000 though, thank you.
Same here.

No I mean Acuras. I have not driven the 05 Accords, but I have driven CL's TL's and RL's. Very smooth engagement.
oh sorry, i was referring to the comment you made about acura's being SOHC. i thought they were all DOHC and some of the honda's had SOHC.

I just couldn't drive a car that is front wheel drive and enjoy it...it's all about the handling baby.
Then you've obviously never had the pleasure of extended seat time in an ITR. I mean RWD 0wnz FWD any day of the week, but the ITR really was something else...very fun 'on-rails' feeling...and heck it is the exception to the rule imo

I've driven most DOHC VTEC's, apart from the NSX...and I personally love the cross-over on the S2K, not to mention the scream as you hit 9000rpms! I think the Civic VTi-R (Si) and the ITR have a more pronounced sound as you hit the big cam, but the S2K definitely feels like its pulling harder than any B-series. The Lude and the Integra VTi-R (GSR)'s cross-over was 'muted' in comparison to the others, but they still pulled relatively strong.

The only DOHC 6 cylinder made by Honda is the NSX. All the rest are SOHC Vtec.
