Regarding the rattle

-Make sure it isn't the licence plate / put rubber bumpers on the back.

-Check the roof tray and plastic pieces around it. This can be the source of sub-rattles.

Also if you do a search with the word "rattle" you should come across a few good threads offering ideas.

My first bet would be that your particular rattle is from one of these places rather than the trunk lid itself.

I am interested in a kit as well.. Investing in quieting down the car means I can spend less money on an amp and get more/ better sounds. Please keep me posted on this.

Can we improvise something without the kit? Has anyone done this? Are photos available?

I took out the spare and stuffed 2 kingsized pillows in its place. No more rattles from the plastic piece the top folds down on and a noticeable noise reduction as well. All for less than $20 and lighter than the spare.

does the hardtop reduce noise at all? (esp. cruising 60-80 for long periods) I am interested in this mod as well, but the hardtop seems like a good purchase also.

The hardtop will reduce a lot of the noise, but if you have an exhaust that resonates, it will only amplify it.
