I know a lot of you folks use them but I'm wondering about using them in bad weather. I'm not so much worried about it raining when the cover is already on the car. Rather, are there any problems with applying the cover on a car that's already wet? I seem to remember reading somewhere that this isn't a good idea.

Comments anyone?

You'll have a wet car when you take the cover off, too.

Most covers don't breath (because we want them water resistent) so unless air gets between the cover and the car, its still gonna be wet.

The water under the cover will eventually dry, but you'll have some water spots.

I've covered a wet car, and also covered it before the rain started. Either way, the car gets it a little. Still better than no protection, and the window seals won't leak when the cover is on - bonus.

 

My window seals don't leak under any condition.

I try hard to avoid putting on the cover or taking it off when the car is wet. If you put it on when it's wet, you'll trap water under the cover that will probably not evaporate. If you take it off when it's wet, then you'll have a huge bundle of moisture in your trunk if you store the cover there. The cover will not dry , and then you'll get dirty water on your car when you put it back on later.

A cover can be a pain in the ass, but if you park outside, I think it definitely has long term advantages. The crap in Los Angeles air eventually erodes the finish on any car, so the more time it's under a cover, the better.
