I never got a silver one when I bought my car, but I do have 2 spare keys and a extra lock though.

It looks good when you get it. Then the silver all rubs off and looks like crap in 6 months.
That has been my experience as well. I think nearly all of the silver is gone on mine.

i wonder if theres a kit out there to convert your s2k key to one of those mazda switchblade-like keys??
There are existing threads if you dig around.

This is one that comes close that works for us http://www.aj-racing.com/catalog/pro...?productid=297
That's odd. They claim that it's for the AP1 and AP2. Do they offer it with both types of keyblades?

And I'm putting this as another plus for having an AP2. Of course nothing will ever make up for the lack of RAWWWWNESSSSSS, right guys?
an ap2 is not better than an ap1 or vice versa. get over it.

The key from AJ-Racing is the JDM key. For some reason I thought I remembered reading that Japan doesn't use the immobilizer systems that the US does. So I emailed AJ Racing and my suspicions were correct. The key will unlock your door, but will not crank your car. You must take both keys apart and move the immobilizer chip from the USDM key and transplant it into the JDM key. It may be a little cheaper than replacing the ignition, but probably more of a headache IMHO.

my MY06 key is looking a bit ugly, the silver paint on the front side is wearing off, but that is because i hang other keys with my driving key. in the future i might just by another silver S2K key and keep it only when i drive on special days...

What part of my thread said that one was better than the other?

Each have parts that are better than other. For instance, the AP1 has it's rawness and, well... the AP2 has everything else...

I kid, I kid...
