hey there.. I want to do the caliper painting and I'm also going to be cleaning my wheels, so I want to look into jack stands.. Where should I buy them and are there a particular type/size/load I should get? About how much will they run for four of them? Thanks..

 

Kinda off the subject but maybe someone can help. As a new owner, I was wondering if anyone could post a picture pointing out the jack points. I need to get under there and change out the oil. Thanks.

and about the jack stands, I would go to your local automotive store and do some price shopping. I think the majority of them are going to be the same, so just like for prices. You probably will never need more than two, maybe three at the most.

 

I just went through all of this, and after discussing it with the local Porsche independant guru and another local really good gent, just got some at Sears. No point in spending tons for the AC flat top stands. This is what I did:

But 4 hockey pucks (about a buck a piece). Carve out notches 180 degrees apart, so the seat on the top of the jack stands. Cover with duct tape. Voila! Padded flat top jack stands. Take off the puck and tape and you have the usual top. Total cost for 4 3.5 ton Craftsman Professional stands and pucks was 45 bucks. Could have spent less, too, but I thought this was pretty decent.
