Default Home Car Lift - Creative solutions?

Hey guys. I am getting real tired of having to jack my car up each time i need to change the oil or mess around with suspension. I was looking at getting a portable home car lift which runs about 1.5k - the price seems really steep but the convenience is tempting. The other option is to go to home depot by some 4X8s and make a car ramps (roughly $50 bucks for wood and screws), but then I would still need to jack up the car if I wanted to do anything with the wheels and I am not sure if the oil will drain properly if the nose is lifted. Anyway I was wondering if anyone has come up with any creative solutions as to how they lift their car up with out spending a boat load of cash.

How about Race Ramps? More expensive ($200), but they're definitely a lot better, lighter, easier to use, and nicer looking than 4x8s.

I have been thinking about this unit- i've got limited roof space and this looks like a good solution. AND, made in the USA!

I am more concerned about utility than appearance any would the oil even drain properly on the car if the nose up?

Those Look pretty good but when spending that amount of money I would rather go with the MaxJax because it will give you more access under the car then any type of scissor lift.

The MaxJax has to be bolted into the floor still. Which if you don't have the proper type of concrete and such, the bolts wont hold. The ez is nifty, but it would make transmission removal or some exhaust work very annoying, plus it doesn't go all that much higher than jack stands can. If you have the cash, MaxJax are nice, just make sure you have the floor done properly to secure it or you will have a bad day.
