Wow!

Glad your both ok. That happened to me while doing 80mph in my old Eclipse. Right in the middle if the desert on my way home from Vegas a couple of years ago. Coyote ran out on the freeway and I swerved a little too fast. Did 3 360's and slid off the freeway, luckily the desert is flat and there were no guard rails.

I escaped w/o any damage other than 4 ruined Potenza's.

Oh no!!

When I first got my S, a racoon wandered out in the middle of the road at about the same speeds, but I didn't see it at all until it was already road pizza. This is why I don't have a front grill anymore...

I learned a long time ago that if something that was not Human got in front of me as I was driving, it was just going to be ran over. I have seen too many accidents where people have been even killed all because a dog, cat, rabbit, etc. Makes no sense but is instinct to try to avoid things like that...

I hope all works out for ya' man...

BA...

unless it is a human, the only thing I do is slam on the brakes, and only then if there are no cars behind me or they are atleast very far off. rapidly swerving around anything at over 40mph or so is not something I do unless it is to avoid collision with another car, an immovable object, or a human being. sucks for the rabbits, but hey.

Wow, sorry about your misfortune. I was just in Boston over the weekend, and it was raining a bit on Sunday... maybe conditions were a contributing factor in this one?

I agree with tritium. Even if you do see the animal some great distance ahead and plan a subtle avoidance manuver, it could still backfire on you. I've seen so many animals freeze in the middle fo the road, then leap into your path at the last second when they finally recognize the danger. Avoidance is often not worth the risk.

Even if they don't total the car, I would take the money they offer, and make up the difference out of my pocket and get another car.

That car will never be right(or safe) again.

Wow, glad you're ok man. Looks like the car did a good job of crupling though, probably saved you. Poor car, but as everyone has said, it's just a car. I'm sure the rabbit was appreciative of your efforts as well Hope your insurance just totals it for you and saves you all the hassles of trying to fix it. Let us know what happens.

So you never hit the rabbit? I know how that is, just happens so quick that is your only reaction to swerve like that, glad to see everyone is safe. You can get an 04 now!!
