Look pal, I don't beat anyone and if you can't add anything but assinine comments like this then logout and cut all of us a break.

And apparently reading comprehension > you -- I wasn't the one getting defensive.

Are hi flow cats illegal due to their ineffectiveness in the conversion of harmful gases at a level required by the government?

If so, then what would be the purpose of manufacturing them?

Later today, I will attempt to reach the company and discuss the nature of their Hi flow converter in terms of its effectiveness and post the results of my findings.

Yep, its illegal to have any kind of aftermarket cat. Just like its illegal to have an aftermarket exhaust. Hmmm I wonder why muffler shops aren't out of business.

It's the law. You dont break a law by passing the posted speed suggestions. Do some research. Just because the police abuse their "power" from time to time by giving out tickets for going over the posted speed "limits" by 5, doesnt mean that theyre doing whats right.

The basic speed law overrules any additional speed law there is in California. Its like the Constitution of speed.

For the record, he was implying that your question about disagreeing with the EPA was loaded.

[QUOTE]I really loved that one. They have no idea what you were saying.

did you get your answer? i'd like to know too. i'm trying to stay away from a test pipe since i occasionally sit in traffic (since i daily drive my S) which means i'll be staying in one spot for a while... i really dont want to choke in my own CO. i was wondering if a high flow cat would be more practical.

The characterization of the California law being made here seems a bit misleading.

1. The posted limits are "prima facie" evidence that that's the maximum safe speed. If you want to worm your way out, you have to convince the judge that your driving did not violate the basic speed law. The burden is on you to prove that you were safe, not on the state to prove that you were unsafe. Given that there are supposed to be studies backing up the reasoning for setting particular speed limits, that will be a difficult burden to prove, in most cases.

2. There apparently are some maximum speeds set by law; for instance, maximum speed on a two lane roadway is 55mph. There are others.

So, California law is a bit funky in this regard (indeed, in many ways), but it's not an anarchist's dream.

No, it's not necessarily illegal to have an aftermarket exhaust. Cat-back is def. OK w/ EPA, though it could potentially violate local noise ordinances.

Not sure about headers, though I believe they can certainly be legal. Main thing is that you cannot remove or modify OEM emissions equipment.

Yes, I knew that, but the whole tenor of the conversation was taking a turn for the worse and that's why I told him not to start making things personal.

Mike has posted repeatedly that catalytic converters don't have any impact on global warming and now the very agency that mandated their use, the EPA, says they do.

I don't see how this was a loaded question.
