Buy the valentine, slow down when the cops ring the cow bell.

valentine one

I've been using it for 8 years now with no tickets.

Slow down indeed - in VA, 20 mph over the limit is automatically reckless driving. Trust me I found out the hard way and now 10 mph over is my limit.

Radar detectors work but not against cops pacing you. Slow down. 5-10 over is still acceptable, 20 is not.

I have been told by friends that are police officers (different departments and from different states), the general rule by officers is "9 you're fine, 10 you're mine." That's good code to live by if you HAVE to go over the speed limit.

What also seems to work great is showing your military id... or happening to be on your way to work; wearing your military police equipment..

Story:

When I had my RSX-S (about 2 yrs ago).. I was doing 80 in a 45 at 4:05 am (yes.. work starts early, and I was late..). A cop pulled me over, saw my uniform/equipment.. asked me if I was late for work.. I was very respectful, explained my situation, and two minutes later.. I was released with a "Slow down, you should know better."

Not even a written warning... woo woo. I've been pulled over numerous times doing in excess of 20 mph over.. and have yet to get a paper warning/ticket.. it always seems my military id is in my wallet on top of my drivers license... how weird. I know it's not right to use my "status" to get out of tickets.. but you use what you have. I learned the "play the game" early.. ;/

That is very important to remember. Me and my Valentine1 got a ticket on the access road by a cop pacing me from the highway. He never bothered to turn his radar on. It's pretty embarrassing to tell your friends you got a ticket AND you have the Valentine1.
