Speeding Ticket --- HELP!
To the point - I got a speeding ticket this morning @ 7:45am.
It all started in a beautiful morning. I just woke up, getting ready to go to school. Got into my car drove like for 5 minutes. As I was approaching into an intersection, the light turns red
. So I waited. When it turn green, I step on the gas and there I go, accelerating. Then suddenly I see a cop infront of me giving me a signal to pull over
. There were like two more cars next to me on my left and right hand. How come he didn't use the damn radar on them
. We were pretty much going at the same speed
.
That was not all
At the time of signing the ticket, the cop toll me that I am going to be cited for having a noen light in here (look at the picture below)plus for speeding. I was like what? I toll him don't you have to have the light "on" to get a ticket for that, he replies "nope". (is not a neon light, is black light.......... damn cop!!!
)
Also, for not having proof of insurance (this one was understandable)
I need advise on how to fight or maybe wave or reduce this speeding ticket?
Any ideas are welcome!
please!
The ticket says:
speed appox. - 51
speed zone - 35
weather - clear
road - dry
traffic - the cop put down "mid" but I say it was "light"
SORRY for my ENGLISH. ENGLISH is my 3th language.

how far away was the officer from the stoplight?
basic dynamics (neglect friction and aerodynamic drag as it will only slow you down thus further proving the officer's "estimate" of your speed incorrect, which it probably was).
background:
--------------
time_final - time_initial = mass/power * (velocity_final^2)/2 ... [since your started at v=0].
solve for estimated power from 0-60mph based on magazine number (quickest possible numbers will be used to show that the completely ideal situation for acceleration).
60mph = 26.8224 m/s
50mph = 22.799 m/s
mass = 1260kg
0-60mph time = 5.6s
Power = 1260kg/5.6s * (26.8224^2)/2 = 80937.128 W = 108.5hp (now before you go get your shorts all bunched up about this number, keep in mind that a real car must overcome friction and aerodynamic drag which would bump the number at the wheels up to what you typically expect it to be.)
final_position - initial_position = distance from officer to stop light = delta
delta = mass/power * (velocity_final^3/3)... [again since your starting at v=0]
--------------
v_final = 50mph = 22.799m/s
power = 108.5hp = 80937.128W
mass = 1260kg
delta = 1260kg/80937.128W * (22.799^3)/3
delta ~ 61.5m ~ 202ft
Basically, there's really no way you'd be going 51mph when he signaled you to pull over unless he was quite a distance away. This is definately not an EXCELLENT approximation because it neglects traction, but it's good enough. I'm only a college student using whatever use[ful/less] physics I was taught. Hope I didn't make any huge mistakes.

LOL
LOL Thanks for the humor.It does help. Not in term of wallet but it does.
ps I am a college student too
