Speedometer Question
Hmmm, interesting thought. According to the Garmin specs, update rate is 1 per second. So what you're saying is that taken as a whole, even if you got consistently skewed readings, the change in lat/long for each reading would be a constant, right? But aren't each 1 second reading independent of the previous lat/long position?
The part I still am unclear of if it is possible for the speedometer to be showing a speed slower than you are going? Honda says NO but I suspect that is more legal reasons only.

My ETREX GPS is accurate up to about 55 mph.
At 62mph on the Honda DIGI it reads 60.8 on the GPSand at 100MPH it reads about 97.6
It is pretty acurate though when I pass those state placed speed monitors on the highways - just to let you know how fast they think you are going.

I think this about sums it up....your dealer is full of it. Results of a highly accurate spped run during May's Nevada's Open Road Challenge of which I and Yellow S2000 were on staff:

Silver State Road Race results:
We came in 4th in the 105 mph class, at an average speed of 104.9453 mph. Winning average 104.9806 mph. Had we relied on Honda's "quality" speedometer, we would have averaged about 100 mph with the odmeter reading 94.5 miles at the finish, instead of exactly 90 as the GPS indicated.
Which BTW cheats me out of about 1800 miles of warrenty by my calculation.

i always thought car companies "exxagerate" your speeds so people think they are going faster but they're not, for obvious safety, legal reasons. I read somewhere BMW did this. they're speedo was like readin 10miles over the actual speed

yeah, i've noticed that every time i run across one of those "your speed is" road side units it reads about 3 mph faster than my speedo. an interesting question: is the discrepency a constant or does it get worse the faster you go?
Nobody has mentioned the tire factor. Even if the speedo were acccurate, which it's not, it can't compensate for tire wire. If you do the math you will see that the difference between new and bald tires is almost exactly 2.5% or 2 mph at 80. So if 80 were truly 80 with new tires then an indicated 80 would only be 78 with bald tires. Mine read about 3 mph high at 80 when new and now reads 4 mph high with 50% wear on rear tires.
