Well, I've got the MG Racing intake and quite like it. First off, it replaces the entire airbox assembly unlike the Spoon. Second, it is a true CAI but doesn't suffer from the drawbacks of the AEM system. The filter is a panel filter mounted high up. The overall shape of the intake from the point where air goes in to the filter is a funnel. Narrow at the bottom and wide at the top. It simply won't suck in water unless you go through a swamp. If you don't believe me, try sucking a liquid up with your mouth wrapped around the wide end of a funnel. It's also the reason why straws are a uniform cross section (like the AEM). Liquids are much easier to suck through uniform cross-sections than through cone shaped devices, so you really don't have to worry. I've driven mine through lots of rainstorms and haven't had any kind of remote problem.

Plus CF looks great. And the sound is superb. And the power is very consistent. I love it, would recommend it, try to find a used one. Install time was 45 minutes.

the MG Racing CAI WILL suck up water - a recent experience proved that theory.

its mounted very low - right next to the x-brace in reference to how low it is. it can be great on the track and freeway but otherwise you are sucking up hot air from the hot asphault.

4-6" in height can make quite a bit of difference in heat that is dissipated from the pavement. just like a stovetop, the Texas pavement down here boils. when people joke about seeing the liquid state of asphault - well, its quite common down here. the temperature difference does vary that much.

I wish I could chime in on the experience, but the person who this happened to would need to chime in. the water wasnt' that deep and everything else with a CAI of different brands could take it without a problem. puddles with this thing - even the smallest on the right side of the dipping roads - I'd worry.

My votes good to Spoon. Spoon intake consist of the intake filter and the duct. It keeps the intake temp. down and constant power. PLus it is mych cheaper than a MG intake.
