I'm sure the thermostat, fan switch rad cap significantly reduced water temps. But I don't see silicon hoses having any significant effect on them. I guess if the spoon nome is worth the extra money then go for it. Otherwise get the Samco and be happy

Actually, the thermostat and fan switch will reduce coolant temps significantly. The radiator cap does nothing to reduce temperatures, it just increase the temperature at which the coolant boils over. The hoses look pretty. They have no discernible effect at all on temps

how do you install the thermostat and where does it go? I've seen them for about $75?.

Follow the bottom rad hose back to the engine. The thermostat is located there. It's a bugger to get at and change.

ps. If you honestly think that these rad hoses alone will reduce the coolant temp, I've got this swamp land for cheap (and I've heard there may be gold in there if you dig deep enough).

xviper: think out of the box - saying Bling forces air across the engine bay, cooling it.

my bollocksometer says seems to indicate that i've just seen a 35% BHP gain at the rear wheels - good god man do you know what this means?!?!? pass me that phat blunt, drape me in fubu and circle my digits in gold - i shall go to the ball!

* sorry, got all pimped-up for a minute there

the spoon radiator hoses will be more heat resistant than the original hoses, the material are design to withstand higher temperature. As for the thermostat and the thermoswitch will enable your radiator fan to operate at an earlier temperature , letting the car cool down sooner.

This "might" make it such that they last longer because they can withstand heat degradation over time. This does not mean they will contribute anything to helping the coolant be "cooler" in any given situation.
Now, I haven't seen these hoses, so maybe I'm being a bit too critical. Do they have cooling fins built into them? If so, maybe they can help to cool the fluid inside a wee bit. Are they made of a material that has some sort of extra special heat transfer and radiation ability? If so, maybe they can help shed a couple of degrees. Are they full of holes? If so, maybe the hot coolant pissing out will remove heat from the engine faster. ( on this last sentence)

Road Rage: I guess I shouldn't down play the importance of bling. OK, I concede. These hoses, all by themselves, will allow you to have a much cooler running engine. At the very least, for the money spent, they simply HAVE to do something.

As any reputable nuclear physicist will tell you, it's the colors of the hoses that cause the temperature drop. The highly agitated water molecules are soothed by the pretty colors of the hoses in which they're contained and are induced to vibrate at a slower rate, thereby causing a significant drop in temperature. This process was discovered by Albert Einstein's lesser known cousin, Bubba Rabinowitz, and is now known as the Bubba Effect.
