Spoon Stuff on MG Racing Site
Hi Giampiero
Nice to see that your Spoon subsite is up. Couple of questions. What's the story with that yellow air filter, the spark plug and this thing
Which is a what?

2x6spds-
That thing is a baffled oil pan. It's a nice thing to have if you plan to do alot of high lateral g-force maneuvers.
The yellow filter is a foam filter- only legal type to run in a race series in Japan.
I don't know much about the spark plugs...

Hi again-
I've tested the foam filter extensively in my Type R. It had no positive effect on HP or torque levels in that particular car, but that really doesn't mean anything when you're asking me about the S2000. I think it's just a quirk in the Japanese touring car race rules and regulations that makes foam elements a requirement. Maybe Giampiero can do some dyno tests later to see if there are any effects of using the foam filter.
The one thing that I know for sure is negative is that the filter will start to disintegrate after about one year of use- it gets stiff and brittle. I think it's the same reason why HKS insists users of their intakes replace the foam element every 3000 miles- lord knows those filters in my GTR are pretty much useless now, and they've been in the car for over two years!

that is a buffle oil pan. this is often use during in the races. it prevents engine oil floating at one side during turns and it will maintain oil pressure during tight corners cos if the oil floating around during alot turns it'll loses oil pressure.
