The Whiteline Brace is one that allows for clear access to the oil drain plug. It's alloy and it's anodised so rust, stone chips, peeling paint etc will not become a problem.

Whiteline X-Brace overlaid against a Spoon X-Brace.

I have a spoon x-brace and it did not change the difficulty of the oil change. Like what JL9000 said, it just is a bit more messy.
