Do a search on spring install. I can't find the thread, but a number of us have posted on "how-to", tips, pics, etc in the thread I am thinking of. In fact there are a few such threads.

You will also find a great deal of info and opinions regarding brands/styles.

FWIW, we have shocks not struts

We have struts. When I went to get the spring compression tool from Autozone, I accidentally checked out the "Shock" kit and I can tell you - no dice. That tool requires you to place the compression tool down the CENTER of the spring, with clamps extending toward the perimeter. The "Stut" kit on the other hand, attaches to the OUTSIDE of the spring.

When the spring itself sits on a "perch", or cup, with the shock.......you have yourself a strut.

The job itself is 1/2 a day, DIY, rented strut compression tool, and an alignment within a week.

Many spring choices out there depending on what you need. Do a search for Eibach or Espilar or KG/MM.....

You may chose to replace your strut at the same time, or re-use the stock ones. Just be warned that it is the same procedure to do the struts, so you'll end up doing the same job twice if you decide later.

Helps to have a buddy, too.
