wish i knew!!!
anyone know what the results of leaving a spring spacer in one wheel only are likely to be? (the warning says they can damage the car, but does not say how!)

Worst case scenario is that the differential is damaged due to 1.5 years of uneven rotation. OMG! Or it might be as mere as uneven tread wear. I'd go to the dealership both way if you haven't already.

I believe the card is meant to be hung from the rearview mirror. Thanks to this site, I was aware of the problem with the spacers well before I even decided to buy my car. I picked up my '02 approximately 1 month ago. When I asked the salesperson if the spacers had been removed, the reply was "spacers? what spacers?" I was then reassured that the s2000 "specialist" had removed them himself. Further inspection by my wonderful husband, who schooched under the car right there in the dealer lot, revealed that a spacer remained in the rear passenger side spring. Hmmmph. The dealers obviously need a little help here. Counting the spacers to see if they have them all out is too challenging. How about changing the color from black to bright yellow? Gee, I can't wait 'til the car needs some real work--that was such a confidence inspiring event.

Perhaps to keep the car from bottoming out when moved during shipping they insert the spacers to raise the level of the body?

They give the car enough ground clearance for the car transporters.

Firefly, when I asked my sales person to explain the changes in the 02 from the 01 he had no idea.I did about a month's worth of research before I went shopping,so I took him by the arm and said..."come on,let me show you"

Had my wheels off today, and during that time, took a look for any leftover spacers. Thank goodness, none found. Guess my dealer did it right!
